Society has long acknowledged the results of Christian faith-based therapy and has come to recognize it as a unique and much needed profession. But with this recognition for the profession, comes the need for a standard of competency and professionalism. NAFC certification provides the professional association whereby ministers and Christian therapists can be recognized as specialists having achieved a standard of competency for the profession.
This is the primary purpose of NAFC, to provide a national standard of credentialing for professionally trained Christian therapists and counselors through review, examination, and certification. NAFC certification is networking this “army of the Lord” to bring restoration and wholeness to the Body of Christ. NAFC certification is accepted by most insurance companies providing professional liability insurance.
There are eight significant services NAFC provides to the Christian Counseling Community.
1. A nationally recognized association of Christian Therapists
2. Certification by a standardized competency examination
3. National referral network
4. Standardized code of ethics
5. Opportunity for professional liability insurance
6. Assistance with development of a counselor center
7. Continuing education through recognized institutions offering on-site and distance training classes
8. Quarterly newsletter that is a forum to Christian counseling community
